SHEFFIELD — Dale F. Williams, 95, of Sheffield died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Walnut Manor in Walnut.

Born Jan. 12, 1915, in Kewanee to Cash and Flora (Solomon) Williams, he married Lucille Miller Jan. 23, 1936, in Kewanee. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Jan. 23, 2006, before Lucille went home to God on May 1, 2006.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Ray, Roy, Dallas, Louis, Linis and Carl; sisters Fay, Ruth, Elsie, Darlene, Alsie and Lavina; many nieces and nephews and a great-grandson, Preston Rogers.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Jim) Jensen of Sheffield; three grandchildren, Brant (Gretchen) Rogers of Mesa, Ariz., Brad Rogers of Seattle, Wash., and Jodal Howlett of Fort Myers, Fla.; two stepgrandchildren, Jimmy (Tammi) Jensen of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Tracy (Doug) Vance of Thomas, Ill.; 13 great-grandchildren, Sean (Traci) and Laura Rogers, Austin and Jonathon Rogers, Kristopher Howlett and Kryristiana Zaidivar, Nickolas, C.J., Matthew and Jacob Jensen, and Justin (Laura), Lexi and Brandi Vance; three great-great-grandchildren, Nora Rogers, and Hallie and Zoi Vance; and a sister, Ida Wetzig of Bennington, Vt.

He was a 1935 graduate of Kewanee High School. Dale retired from Kewanee Machinery & Conveyer and was an auctioneer for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Kewanee Lions Club, was Wethersfield Township secretary for several years and  was also the official Kewanee Santa Claus for years. He was a charter member of the Royal Order of the Sea Gulls at the Shady Beach summer resort outside of Geneseo, Ill., where he had a summer home. After his retirement, he and Lucille moved to Taraves, Fla., where they stayed for 21 years. Due to illness, they returned to Illinois locating to Sheffield, on their son-in-law and daughter’s farm. He was a member of the New Bedford Christian Church in New Bedford, Ill. Dale enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, golf, fishing, mowing and helping other people. He will be sorely missed but led a full life full of blessings.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, with the Rev. David Beebe officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the New Bedford Christian Church or to Walnut Manor.

The Princeton High School Tigers beat the Rock Falls Rockets Wednesday 66-55 during sectional play at Byron. The Tigers will now play the undefeated Winnebago Indians at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
