UTICA — Local artists announce the establishment ArtWorks, an organization created by a group whose mission is to inspire artistic growth among artists through education, exhibition and competition.

ArtWorks promotes quality professionalism and diversity in the arts in a positive manner. With donations from both Illinois Valley Cellular and The Willows in Utica, ArtWorks’ goal is to create a venue to support public and private education, community events, re-development and cultural tourism.

Initially working with the North Central Regional Betterment Coalition, (www.ncrbc.net), a not-for-profit (501c3) corporation, ArtWorks is now an independent entity, hoping to establish a thriving society of creatives. It is their desire to expose the public to the beauty and necessity of art and to enable you to share your artistic talents with the world.

Any visual artist may join ArtWorks by filling out an application and paying a $25 annual fee.

Whether you are a patron of the arts who would like to make a donation, a business owner interested in working with ArtWorks, or a fellow artist, you can find out more about the group by attending the gallery opening at The Willows, 325 Clark St., Utica, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday. Interested artists may also get an application or e-mail inquiries to Julie Jenkins, president of Artworks, at julie.jenkins14@comcast.net.
