CLEVELAND — Kailey Klein should become the all-time leading scorer for the Cleveland State University women’s basketball program Saturday afternoon. The former Hall standout from Cherry poured in 21 points in the Lady Vikings 62-51 win over University of Illinois-Chicago at home Thursday. The Cherry Comet now has 1,845 career points, leaving her just six points from matching the record total of 1,851 held by Diane Foster since 1984. Klein and the Lady Vikings (11-10) will return to action at the Wollstein Center in downtown Cleveland at 2 p.m. (CT) Saturday vs. Loyola. Sometime in the first half, Klein, who once scored 58 points in one game at Hall, will likely break the record. She made 9 of 25 shots from the floor and sank 3 of 4 free-throw attempts, also snagging 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. She is averaging 15.8 ppg this season as the top scorer in the Horizon League. Comment on this story at www.bcrnews.com. Comments
