SPRING VALLEY — Two-time BCR co-Golfer of the Year Nick Rounds will be taking his golf game to Illinois Valley Community College next fall. The Hall senior, who carded an area leading average of 39.3 strokes per nine holes as he helped lead the Red Devils to a team sectional appearance, signed a letter of intent to suit up for the Eagles’ golf squad in a signing ceremony Thursday afternoon at Hall. Rounds said he is excited to continue his career on the links and is hoping to continue to grow his game. “It’s something I don’t want to give up ye ... Two more years is going to be fun,” Rounds said. “I just want to see how much better I can get, see what’s the difference between high school and college golf, just keep trying to get better.” IVCC coach Jim Lukosus said he was happy to bring in more local talent to fill the Eagles’ roster. “We were really happy when we found out Nick decided to go to junior college; obviously we were right on him,” Lukosus said. “I think it’s evident that he was one of the premiere players in the area, and we’ve had a real good reputation as far as staying in district and getting local kids to play with the IV team. “So Nick was definitely high on our radar, and we were definitely happy when he called and said he was ready to come out and play for IVCC,” Lukosus said. Red Devil golf coach Tom Bauer said Rounds has all the tools to have a successful run at IVCC. “Nick, with his talent, I’m pretty sure is going to jump right in somewhere in the top five and really help the team right off the bat, not wait for year, but he’s got that much talent that he can do that right away. ” Bauer said. “I think Nick has all the capabilities with the mechanics and things he has in his golf game to have a real good shot at cracking our top five, as an incoming freshman,” Lukosus said.
