The Bureau Valley Storm snapped a four-game losing streak just in time for the postseason, defeating Fulton 42-40 Thursday. It didn’t come as easy as it appeared to be. The Storm led 38-25 after three quarters, but scored just four fourth-quarter points while Fulton’s Kim Rogis rallied the Steamers with eight of her team-high 12 points. Melanie Thompson scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and Meghan Musche added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. BV will take an 18-8 record into the Princeton Regional next week, finishing 9-5 in the Three Rivers. Kewanee 61, Princeton 33: The host Lady Boiler-makers overpowered the Tigresses in the final NCIC Lincoln contest of the 2009-10 season and the last conference meeting between the longtime rivals. Kewanee held PHS to three second-quarter points, a three by Jasmine Kunkel, while scoring 14 points to take a 31-12 halftime lead. Senior Lacey Jensen scored all of her team-high 11 points in the second half for PHS. Kunkel finished with nine. Somonauk 66, LaMoille/Ohio 28: Haley Stouffer scored 13 points and Mary Bartoli added six for the Lady Lions in Thursday’s make-up game at LaMoille to wrap up the regular season. The visiting Lady Bobcats led 34-12 at halftime and 50-19 after three quarters. Karrah Kuykendall led the Bobcats (11-15, 15-3) with 24 points and Lauren Brummell added 19. “We didn’t match up to Somonauk very well tonight. That, with poor shooting, makes for a long night,” L/O coach Bill Stouffer said. Aubrey Molln powered L/O to a 57-17 win in the F/S game with 34 points and 23 rebounds. IVC 61, Hall 39: An upset was in the making early at Red Devils Gymnasium where the host Lady Devils took a 15-14 lead after one quarter against the NCIC Lincoln leading Lady Grey Ghosts. Hall played IVC to a 29-25 halftime game, before the Lady Ghosts took over. IVC outscored their hosts 17-6 in the third quarter and 32-13 over the second half to win going away. Hillary Klein and Jaclyn Kain led Hall (7-21, 1-9) with 13 points each. Kelle Nett added seven. St. Bede 55, DePue 9: Emily Considine scored 13 points for the Lady Bruins who put the finishing touches on the 2009-10 Tri-County Conference championship Thursday at the Academy. Comments

March 4, 2010 The Princeton High School Tigers beat the Rock Falls Rockets Wednesday 66-55 during sectional play at Byron. The Tigers will now play the undefeated Winnebago Indians at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship. March 2, 2010 Quick Links |
