Richard Dant
OREGON HOUSE, Calif. — Richard "Rick" Dant, 75, of Oregon House, Calif., died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010.
Born April 11, 1934, in Princeton to Joseph and Maria (Pieri) Dant, he married Mary Kathryn April 28, 1956, in Dubuque, Iowa. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from September 1953 to September 1978. He served in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star award for heroism and was a senior master sergeant.
He was an umpire with a national ranking. He was inducted as an umpire into the Softball National Hall of Fame at Oklahoma City, Okla. He graduated with an associate in arts degree from Yuba Community College. He worked for the U.S. Air Force and Yuba College. He was a member of the ASA Umpire Association and retired military.
Also surviving are three sons, Terry of Petaluma, Calif., Kelly of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Tim of Lincoln, Calif.; one daughter, Erin of Elk Grove, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Paul Dant of Marysville.
A private family memorial will be held in Elk Grove.
