S.A.F.E. course planned

Agriculture is the most dangerous industry. Each year unnecessary deaths and injuries affect farmers and their families, farm employees, and rescuers. Emergency responders often lack knowledge of the nature of farm machinery, chemicals, and farm structures. For this reason the Bureau, Henry, and Stark County Farm Bureaus, along with the Kewanee Fire Department, will be sponsoring a S.A.F.E. course for fire, rescue and EMS providers in Bureau, Henry and Stark counties.

In cooperation with Illinois Farm Bureau, Country Financial, and the Illinois Fire Service Institute, this training session will be offered at the Kewanee Fire Department on May 1. This program involves an eight-hour combination of instruction and hands-on farm accident extractions.

This program costs $10 per person. Contact the Bureau County Farm Bureau at (815) 875-6468, Stark County Farm Bureau at (309) 286-7481 or the Henry County Farm Bureau at (309) 937-2411 for more information and to obtain a registration form. Class size is limited, and the registration deadline is April 15.
