Boilers advance to sectional finals

The Kewanee Boilermakers punched their ticket to Friday’s Farmington 2A Sectional championship with 55-50 win over Rock Island Alleman Tuesday night. Kewanee junior Jordan Hart led the way for the Boilers with 21 points, 13 in the first half. Junior Matt Carlson notched all 16 of his points in the second half for the Boilers (20-13), who knocked down 6-7 shots from the foul line down the stretch to pull off the win. Next up for Kewanee will be a date with Peoria Manual (21-7).

1A sectionals

At Somonauk: Little Ten champ Newark cruised past Deerfield Chicagoland Jewish 75-39 Tuesday. The Norsemen will meet Dwight Friday.

At Mackinaw: Tri-County champ Midland lost to LeRoy 57-47 Wednesday

At Hanover Ridge: Indian Creek lost to Lanark Eastland 44-40 Wednesday.

3A regionals

At LaSalle: The Morris Redskins made host LaSalle-Peru a spectator for the rest of the week, defeating the Cavs 48-30 in Tuesday’s regional semis. The Redskins will face Streator in Friday’s finals. Streator beat Ottawa 67-54 Wednesday.
