Maleta Norman
GALENA — Maleta C. Norman, 85, of Galena died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at her home.
She was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Vinegar Hill Township, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Tranel) Schonhoff. She was united in marriage to Leonard F. “Doc” Norman and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1987.
Maleta was educated at Vinegar Hill School. She worked at Burgess Battery Factory and later retired from Eaton Corporation. After retirement, she worked as a caretaker for the elderly. Maleta liked to keep busy, baking, playing euchre and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Leonard Norman Jr. of Galena, Marcia (John) Reifsteck of Sterling, Ron (Jeanie) Norman of Princeton and Steve (Angela) Norman of Verona, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Tim (Sara) Reifsteck, Kevin (Tabitha) Reifsteck, Bryan Reifsteck, Nathan (Nachelle) Norman, Jason Norman, Braden (Lauren) Norman, Erica Norman and Caroline Norman; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Urban Schonhoff; and one grandson, Brenten L. Norman.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where a parish rosary will be recited at 2 p.m.
