Roseberg signs with Cedarville

PRINCETON — Princeton senior Scott Roseberg, the 2009 BCR Soccer Player of the Year, recently signed a letter of intent to continue his soccer career at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio.

Roseberg, who notched 15 goals and seven assists on the pitch for the Tigers last fall, said the chance to continue lacing up his cleats after his prep career was a life-long dream.

“Ever since I started playing soccer, I knew I wanted to play after high school. It’s been a goal of mine as long as I can remember,” Roseberg said.

“I’m pumped,” he said. “Any time you can go past the high school level and play a sport, it’s pretty special. So I’m really excited to continue.”

Princeton soccer coach Jason Bird said Roseberg’s talent and work ethic should make him a difference-maker at the collegiate level.

“Scott is going to be successful at the next level; he has put a lot of time in making himself a better soccer player,” Bird said. “He will work hard, and I would not be surprised to hear that he becomes one of the better players at the next level. He’s a great young man.”

Roseberg, who will study youth ministry, said the strong youth ministry program at Cedarville, as well as the level of competition that he will face at the school, led to his decision to sign up with the Yellow Jackets, who will be moving up to compete in Division II Athletics his sophomore year.

The all-sectional midfielder and three-time Tiger Defender of the Year said he is looking forward to testing himself in the collegiate ranks and working on his soccer game with his new teammates.

“Just working hard in practice with guys that are better than me, that sounds pretty exciting,” Roseberg said.
