Tigers head up Lincoln squad

Five Princeton Tigers and three Hall Red Devils received recognition on the 2009-10 NCIC Lincoln All-Conference boys’ basketball team.

PHS seniors Ryne Vrana and Scott Roseberg were named to the six-man first team. Vrana was one of four unanimous selections, joining seniors Chris Martin of IVC and Vince Bruno of Mendota and junior Jacob Junis of Rock Falls. Kewanee junior Jordan Hart and Roseberg closed out the first team.

Princeton senior Brik Wedekind and junior Michael Murray received second team honors along with Hall senior Billy Gaull. Other second team selections included Rock Falls seniors Tevin Rumley and Dylan Austin and juniors Matt Carlson of Kewanee and Alex Koch of IVC.
A fifth Tiger, Reid Clary, picked up honorable mention honors, along with Hall juniors Tyler Thompson and Austin Helm. Also receiving honorable mention were seniors Keegan Horack of IVC and Matt Lauts of Rock Falls and juniors Trevor Black of IVC, Josh Warner of Kewanee and Zach Lewis of Mendota.

Mendota received the Sportsmanship’s Award with Hall taking second place and Princeton and IVC tying for third place.

Princeton landed  its first NCIC championship since 1996, winning the Lincoln Division at 9-1. Their only loss came at IVC, which they avenged later at home. The Tigers won their second straight regional championship, bowing out in the sectional finals with a loss to Winnebago to finish with an overall record of 27-3.

IVC finished second at 7-3, with Rock Falls and Kewanee sharing third place at 6-4. Hall and Mendota each went 1-9.

IVC won the Lincoln sophomore title, and Rock Falls was the freshmen champions, both finishing 9-1.
