James Menzel
LAMOILLE — James Menzel, 70, of LaMoille died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at his home.
Born July 8, 1939, in Woodstock to Gordon and Clarabelle (Johnson) Menzel, he married Karen Walker Dec. 28, 1963, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota. She survives.
He was employed as a truck driver by Consolidated Freight Ways. He had served in the U.S. Army for three years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in LaMoille, a Boy Scout leader, a Little League umpire and a union steward with Local 722.
Also surviving are six children, Susan Menzel of Germany, Tammy (Charlie) Williams of Spring Valley, Jerry (Sunee) Menzel of Mendota, Rick (Kris) Menzel of Princeton, Lisa (Troy) Quest of LaMoille and Ron (Jill) Menzel of Perkasie, Pa.; two brothers, Russ (Penny) Menzel of Crossville, Tenn., and John Menzel of Compton; two sisters, Judy (Dick) Kelly of Mendota and Gwen (Bill) Cox of Stillman Valley; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, LaMoille, with the Rev. Jerry Graham officiating. Burial will be in Melugen Cemetery, Brooklyn Township, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 4079.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota.
