Youth Coalition set for Wednesday

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Youth Development Coalition invites the public to attend its upcoming meeting scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Illinois Extension – Bureau County office, located at the Becker Professional Suites, 850 Thompson St., Princeton.

Chief Deputy Allan Beaber of the Princeton Police Department and Dawn Conerton, project coordinator for Community Partners Against Substance Abuse Coalition (CPASA), are working on a community project called P2D2. The project is a prescription drug disposal program that will be coming soon to Bureau County.

Also featured will be news of events coming soon to Bureau and Putnam counties. A Bureau County Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 29 at the Metro Center in Princeton. A Putnam County Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 25 at the Putnam County High School. A statewide initiative, Sticker Shock, will be happening in local communities on April 1. The public is invited to attend the coalition meeting and become involved and/or just receive and share this updated information on these area drug prevention initiatives.

The Bureau County Youth Development Coalition focuses on all of Bureau County. Its purpose is to bring together interested and concerned individuals, groups and agencies to develop and implement a sustainable plan to address issues that affect our county’s youth. The goal is to assist families and youth in becoming involved and caring members of our community. The Coalition is facilitated by University of Illinois Extension – Bureau County and has provided community services in the following program areas: family education and resources, youth activities, prevention education programs and model after-school programs.
