Vern Burwell
PRINCETON — Vern Burwell, 80, of Princeton died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Born Dec. 2, 1929, in Elk City, Okla., to Ira and Cecil (Allender) Burwell, he married Geraldine Frye June 3, 1949. She survives.
He attended Hutchinson High School and Wichita State University, both in Kansas. He received a bachelor’s degree in administration. He was a Sears Roebuck store manager and was with the company 34 years. He owned and operated Burwell Real Estate in Princeton 25 years.
He was a member and past president of the Rotary in Princeton, Illinois Valley Association of Realtors, and had Realtor designation. He had played church league softball and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are three children, Rodney (Glenda) Burwell and Betty Burwell, both of Princeton, and Kelly (Larry) Burwell-Harris of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters; one brother; six grandchildren, Cassidy Balenseifsen, Aamanda Marquis, Jennifer Hays, James Hays, Amelia Harris and Colan Harris; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. James Galbreath officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton.
