No team scores were kept. Princeton freshman Linnea Stephens won a pair of events at the meet, setting a PHS freshman indoor record with a first-place time of 2:31.3 in the 800 meter, and also winning the 200 (28.8). Fellow PHS freshman Phoenix Smallwood tied BV junior Aubrey Franklin for first in the long jump with a top leap of 15-8, which qualified both for the Illinois Top Times indoor state meet, and set a freshman school record with a second-place 30-3 1/2 effort in the triple jump. Franklin also added a second-place finishes in the 55m hurdles (8.98), and 55m dash (7.86). BV senior Melanie Thompson, who placed fifth in the shot put at state last year, is already throwing with postseason form, winning the event with a top heave of 38-7. Princeton senior Amber Ruter finished second (30-7). PHS sophomore Laura Fredenhagen claimed first in the pole vault, setting a school fresh-soph record with a vault of 8-6. Also claiming gold was the Tigresses 3200 meter relay squad of Emma Makransky, Kara Birch, C.J. Rhodes and Allie Youngren (11:07.9). Rhodes added a second-place finish in the high jump (5-0). Third-place finishers for PHS included Youngren in the 400 (1:07.13), and Sarah Bombliss in the shot put (29-7). BV’s Sam Neahring finished third in the pole vault (6-6). At Bloomington: The Hall track teams opened the 2010 indoor track season Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan. Liz Mosbach (1:04.78) and Anthony Urbanski (53.66) grabbed seconds in the 400. Other top performers from the girls’ meet include Amber Huffaker, fourth in the long jump (14-4 3/4), Jenna Sobin and Katie Hoffert, who tied for sixth in the high jump (4-10), Jessica Grivetti, seventh in the shot put (31-11 3/4), Amber Huffaker, seventh in the 55m (7.95) and Raven Miller, eighth in the 400 in 1:08.05. |
