Learn the language!I am writing this Letter to the Editor to voice my opinion. I received in my newspaper, like everyone else did, a flyer from O’Reilly Auto Parts. That was fine, however when I took a second look at the flyer, something caught my eye. On 99 percent of the ads in the flyer, the products were in English, however right below that, they were repeated in Spanish. This just made me plain mad. There are other products that do the same thing, so this is not just one instance. I do not buy if they are not in English. This is the United States of America! We speak ENGLISH! A lot of our ancestors came from overseas and had to learn a new language. They did this because this was their country of choice, and they had pledged their allegiance to this country. We don’t have advertisements in German or French, so why should they be in Spanish. The Mexican people want to come here to better themselves, and many do it illegally. I can understand speaking your native tongue in your own home but not in public, and I don’t feel everything should be in English or Spanish. You get this when you call anywhere, press one for English. Why should we have to press anything for English. This is AMERICA! Anyone who comes to this country legally or otherwise should be willing to learn our language. We should not cater to theirs. After all, they chose to make America their home, so LEARN the LANGUAGE.
