Last night’s Academy Awards ceremony got me thinking about sports movies. So without further ado, here’s a quick look at my nominees for best sports movie of all time.
One of the great things about my job is that I often get to witness a special event in the lives of the student-athletes and coaches I cover. Whether it’s a state medal in cross country, a game winning home run, or a big team win, I often know I’m watching something special, especially in the lives of those students and coaches, as well as the communities they represent.
It’s regional time for area boys’ basketball teams, and with the area girls’ hoops season in the history books, I figured now would be as good a time as any for the second annual installment of my grab-bag of basketball awards.
The Princeton High School Tigers beat the Rock Falls Rockets Wednesday 66-55 during sectional play at Byron. The Tigers will now play the undefeated Winnebago Indians at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
