LOMBARD — Damon “Ed” Pollitt, the husband of the late Bernita Giltner, 79, of Lombard, died at his home Friday Sept. 3, 2010, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

In Thursday’s Bureau County Journal, it was incorrectly reported that Thomas E. Russell, 18, of Spring Valley had been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as a minor following a traffic stop Aug. 28. It should have read that Russell was a passenger and charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. The BCR regrets the error.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Michael Porter, another of the last jazz musicians of the world has been lost. He was born Feb. 16, 1952, in Pennsylvania to Geraldine Hillard and died of Huntington’s disease on Aug. 15, 2010. She and Robert Porter bore four other children before she realized she had inherited the dreaded gene of which she later died. Two of Mike’s brothers are also afflicted.
